Overcoming Obstacles' lessons have been developed primarily for use as stand-alone 50-minute life skills classes. However, educators have found that the curriculum easily adapts to a wide variety of classroom needs. Overcoming Obstacles works because it:

Overcoming Obstacles' lessons help educators address life skills issues that are most important to their specific students, classes, and school. Whether students are learning strategies for conflict resolution and problem solving, or developing personal management skills for college and career preparation, the curriculum is comprehensive and of interest and importance to them.

Adapts to any school, classroom or teacher requirement—
from five to 90 minute lessons.

Each activity-based lesson can be taught in its original 50-minute format, easily divided into shorter segments or extended to accommodate up to 90 minutes of instruction time.

Easily infuses into a variety of course types.

Schools can implement the curriculum in stand-alone classes, advisory periods, after-school programs, mentoring initiatives, or infuse Overcoming Obstacles life skills instruction into core academic courses like Social Studies, English, and Science. The curriculum can be used as either a one- or two-semester course.
