Community for Education Foundation offers professional development workshops that give educators a comprehensive orientation to the Overcoming Obstacles Life Skills Program. Since every school is unique, our workshops are tailored to meet the individual needs and goals of each school partner we work with. Professional development workshops include:
- An introduction to the methodology and structure of the program
- Hands-on experience with the curriculum materials
- Lesson modeling and analysis
- Assistance with implementation planning
Benefits of Teacher Training
Professional development workshops offer many advantages to educators, such as:
- Discussion of the culture, interests, characteristics, and concerns of their students and ways to use this knowledge to engage students
- Development of strategies to create an environment of respect and understanding
- Establishment of expectations for students' learning and behavior and ways of maintaining those standards
- A comfortable and professional setting to strengthen their relationships with their colleagues
Get the Whole School Involved
In addition to educators, CEF encourages other school faculty‒including administrators, parent coordinators, and school support staff‒to participate in professional development workshops in order to help build a schoolwide awareness of the program and the goals your school has established.
