Posted: February 11, 2016

Teach Life Skills & Change Our World

Overcoming Obstacles Life Skills Education brings together educators, community leaders, and journalists for an insightful panel discussion on the importance of life skills education, following the screening of Ripple Effect, a short documentary. Educators and reformers from around the country explain how teaching life skills increases graduation rates, makes schools safer, combats bullying, and ensures our children grow up to be healthy, productive citizens.

Join us in room Sun A on Friday, February 26 from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. Panel members include: Dr. Maurice Elias, Director, Rutgers Social-Emotional Learning Lab; Victoria Middleton, Executive Director (Retired) ACLU South Carolina; Sandy Brossard, Charleston County School District, Interim Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Paul C. Tash, chairman and CEO of the Tampa Bay Times and Times Publishing Company will moderate the panel discussion.

We are also presenting a Learning Lab on Friday, February 26 from 10:00 am – 10:20 am, will provide an overview of the curriculum and ways Overcoming Obstacles may be incorporated into schedules. The lab will be located in the Osceola Ballroom.

Also, don’t forget to visit us at booth 417 to talk about how Overcoming Obstacles can help your school and give your students the skills they need to be successful in life.
