Overcoming Obstacles News and Updates

Overcoming Obstacles would like to welcome the more than 10,000 new educators who registered for an account and downloaded our materials so far in 2019! If you have any questions about your account, our curricula, or implementation strategies, please contact us through our website or Facebook page.

And to all of the educators who have advocated for life skills education by sharing our free resources with your friends and colleagues, thank you! Because of you, an additional 600,000 students will be given an opportunity to learn essential life skills this year. Please continue to share our website and Facebook page so together we can ensure that all children have the skills they need for success.

Below is an overview of what is new and upcoming with Overcoming Obstacles.

WEBSITE VERSION 2.0

Several improvements and changes are on their way to the Overcoming Obstacles website! In the near future, you will be able to:

  • download individual lessons in addition to complete modules and curricula.
  • preview lessons and modules before downloading them.
  • arrange modules, lessons, and activities into your own customized curricula.

A complete walkthrough of all changes will be posted to this blog in the near future to coincide with the launch of the updated website (expected early April 2019).

NEW ACTIVITY SHEET TRANSLATIONS

Overcoming Obstacles elementary, middle, and high school level activity sheets are now available in Hindi and Japanese! You can download them all for free by logging in to your account. As a reminder, these activity sheets are also available in English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Russian, Urdu, Korean, Portuguese, German, French-Canadian, Haitian-Creole, Hebrew, Italian, Tagalog, Swahili, Vietnamese, Afrikaans, Xhosa, and Zulu.

In addition, our complete elementary, middle, and high school curriculum—including all of the lessons and extensions—will soon be available in French in addition to English and Spanish. Like all of our resources, they are free now and forever!

CONFERENCE SCHEDULE

Overcoming Obstacles is scheduled to exhibit at the following conferences in 2019! Visit us and talk to educators and students who know firsthand the importance of teaching and receiving a life skills education through Overcoming Obstacles:

  • The Connecticut School Counselor Association Conference at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut (May 29, 2019)
  • The American School Counselor Association Annual Conference at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts (June 29 – July 2, 2019)
  • The National Association of Elementary School Principals Annual Conference at the Spokane Convention Center in Spokane, Washington (July 10 – 12, 2019)
